The treatment of VOC\'s

The treatment of VOC's (volatile organic compounds)

VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) are chemicals that contain carbon and are released into the atmosphere when fuels are burned or the processes of evaporation of solvents, paints and similar substances.

It isdangerous for air pollutants that originate in the graphic arts industry and flexography, manufacture and use of paints, plastics industry, the cosmetics industry, and so on.

The emission of these compounds into the atmosphere is regulated by Royal Decree 117/2003 on the limitation of emissions of VOCs due to the use of solvents in certain activities, the directive 2004/42/EC of the European Union and the Royal Decree 22 / 2006.

There are different technical solutions for the treatment and disposal of gases and vapors that contain VOC's. Depending on the volume to be treated and the concentration of these gases and vapors COV'sen be chosen either treatment technology.

One of themost widespread methods for treating large volumes of gases with high concentrations of VOCs is the thermal oxidation, one of the most advanced catalytic regenerative thermal oxidation.

The method is tocollect all the gases generated at the facility and lead them through a network of pipelines to the treatment team of VOCs. Before entering the combustion chamber, the gases can pass through a cyclone to separate solid and liquid particles, leaving only the gases. In the combustion chamber, a burner that operates natural gas is responsible for issuing burn the gases and debris into the atmosphere.

The highcalorific value gases that are incinerated, precisely because of the presence of VOCs, provides a large amount of thermal energy. The computer goes into auto-thermal regime, in which the same solvents present in the gases, generate enough temperature to be oxidized (burned). This allows the burner is turned off and thus significantly reduces the consumption of natural gas needed for burning, lowering the operational cost of the installation.

This technology,in which E360 is one of the leading specialists nationwide, also offers equipment more compact than other systems, a high destruction efficiency of energy consumption COV'scon acceptable. Catalytic oxidation also occurs at lower temperatures and does not generate nitrogen oxides (NOx).
Some of our customers with large volumes of gas to be treated and COV'sen high concentrations of the same, has already adopted this solution to meet existing standards and thereby protect the environment.
